Finally got my Controller + Some Bad News :(

20130514-161019.jpg

Yay it finally came! The good news is that it came with all its original packaging which is sweet, but unfortunately there is also bad news. DS3 tool doeskin detect it as a ps3 controller so i cant emulate it as a 360 controller through that. Also no game seems to natively support the controller, Sleeping Dogs for example opens up the map when you press either r2 or l2. I cant seem tp find a way to fix it either so I’m quote disappointed. I know, i know, if i wanted it for pc gaming why get the ps3 version instead of the 360 version? Well for one the ps3 version was 30 bucks cheaper and i kind of wanted a new ps3 controller so why not hit two birds with one stone? Anyway its pretty late so I’m just going to go to bed and try again tomorrow when i get home from school. Wish me luck.

EDIT: Finally after hours of fiddling around with x360ce I got it working with Sleeping Dogs! Now I can play the game with my awesome new controller during the weekend! Can’t wait.

My Controller Still Didn’t Come + Annoying Step Dads

Aww, my controller didn’t arrive this weekend so I didn’t really play my PC much. Plus my step father brought his annoying kids over without a heads up so I wasted my entire weekend entertaining his kids while he locks himself in his room watching tv. My mom was even more upset since she had to take care of his kids as well on mothers day. Now why didn’t he just leave them over at their house so they could spend time with their mom is beyond me. Well the good news is that they’re gone. Hopefully they don’t come next weekend; I truly hate it when they come, always have to cancel all my plans for them as if they’re my fucking kids.

Whats Going on This Weekend…

Well not much going on this weekend. Most likely I’ll continue playing Sleeping Dog & Soul Sacrifice. I must say, Sleeping Dogs is quite a surprise. The story is really enjoyable and there’s a lot of content in the game. Unlike other games that has a bunch of collectables that do absolutely nothing Sleeping Dog actually does, either by rewarding you by increasing your max health or finding new clothing. Pretty sweet, really underrated game if you ask me. Soul Sacrifice just continues to be amazing.

I still haven’t completed the main story, I’m up to the Cerberus boss, I forget which chapter it’s on but its amazing. The story is great and pretty sad. My favorite story so far are the side stories though. The one about the man raised my a monster is both depressing and sweet. The reason I’m not that far in story mode though is because I’ve been play a lot of co-op with my friends. As soon as I get on my Vita the first thing I do is check if my buds are online. Currently I’m level 32 light and 7 dark, my friends are nearly max level though so I tend to be more of a burden on the team but it’s all good. They help me level up and I keep the heat off  them, I react quite quickly so it’s not like they revive me much unless I get 1 hit ko’d. Lately I’ve also been having an itch to get back into LittleBigPlanet Vita again, been feeling like getting my creative juices flowing and making a level. I’m not sure on what exactly, but it’ll hit me once I start playing. Most likely it’ll be a challenge level since those are the easiest and my favorite to make.

Season Passes Are Stupid

Why are people so willingly to spend +$20 on season passes? The publisher  is basically telling you “Hey give us some extra cash and you’ll get the DLC when it comes out, but we’re not going to tell you what the DLC is.”  why, WHY would ANYONE buy one!? Do you have so much disposable income that you just don’t care and buy it anyway? In recent example, the Injusice season pass just came out with the first of the four characters(with Bat Girl being the second character that I believe still hasn’t been officially acknowledged. Why the fuck is it so god damn hard for publisher’s to tell you exactly what you’re paying early for? The only logical explanation I can think of is that people might not like what the DLC is and won’t buy the pass. But to be quite honest that’s no excuse. Note, that my issue isn’t the season passes themselves(which I don’t ever purchase, I’ve already spent $40-60 on the game and already you want more? As Cartman would say “haha, suck my balls.”) But that they want our money and don’t even tell us exactly what we’re buying. What makes it worse is that people bend over and buy it. -_-

Finally Chose a Controller!

Well like I said yesterday, I was looking around the internet for a controller so I could play on my PC. I’ve been using my wireless PS3 controller connected via usb but I’d rather not keep playing like that since it messes up the battery of the controller, it’s happened to me before. So I was going to go with the official Xbox 360 wired controller but then I found the MLG controller which can be customized to either the PS3 layout or 360 layout. Now this was great for me because as a PS3 gamer I much prefer the analog sticks to both be on the bottom and the dpad to be on top. But, unfortunately it cost 100 dollars. So instead of just giving up I decided to buy one from the Amazon Warehouse for $65. If you’re not familiar with Amazon’s Warehouse everything is pretty much used so yea. I’ve never bought anything from Amazon Warehouse or anything used online so I don’t know how good it’ll be when it comes. The original package contains 4 analog sticks(2 360 style and 2 PS3 style) and 2 dpads(1 360 and the other PS3), 2 different styled plates, weights to make the controller heavier or lighter, and a small case to fit all this in. I’m hoping it comes with everything but I should probably lower down my expectations so I don’t end up disappointed otherwise. Hopefully it works so I don’t have to return it; I’ve never returned anything online so to be honest I have no idea how I’d return it. Also, it won’t be here till next week according to Amazon but since I live in New York it might come earlier than usual like everything else I order directly from Amazon.

Sleeping Dogs Is Up Next

With me finally finishing 2 games in my backlog(Kingdom of Amalur & Sonic Generations) I feel like I’m up for an action game now, so I’ll be tackling Sleeping Dogs now. I played it a bit before when I originally bought it when steam accidentally had it on sale for like 90%(plus I bought the zombie DLC too). While I did enjoy the little I played I was in the middle of two other games so it was shoved to the back burner. Coincidentally, Sleeping Dogs will also be one of the PS3’s PS+ games for this month so if you don’t have it yet make sure to give it a go when it’s released.

Sonic Generations Short Review

Sonic Generations tries to do two things, please old school 2D Sonic fans and also appeal to 3D Sonic fans. Personally, I much prefer 3D Sonic as it has a much stronger emphasis on speed than 2D Sonic, but hey what do I know? The only 2D sonic games I enjoyed were the Sonic Advance series so I guess it isn’t my place to say if 2D sonic is boring or not. But anyway, Both Sonic’s world collide and are broken up so now you must race through nine different worlds to put them back together. each of the world’s has two acts, one for modern Sonic and another for old school sonic, making a total of 18 stages, plus a bunch of challenges that I couldn’t possibly care less about. All the stages are from previous Sonic games so you’ll be visiting Green Hill Zone all up to a stage from Sonic Colors. By the way, City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 is here with a remix of the original song. Hands down my favorite stage in the entire game.

The music in the game is great, I’m not the hugest Sonic fan so I can’t compare them to their original versions excluding for songs in Sonic Adventure 2 but they all sound really great to me. The visuals are also very stunning which is helped by a good art direction. If you played Sonic Unleashed or Colors you should already know how Modern sonic plays(awesome). Old school sonic plays like as you would expect, although while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the original sonic games, Sega still hasn’t quite perfected his feel. I don’t know how to put it but he still plays a bit off. For example, he’s a bit slippery even when he’s not running at full speed which is quite frustrating. Also the final boss is a huge let down, its poorly implemented and very boring, without spoiling anything all you got to do is hold the dash button the entire fight. Also I beat the game in four hours so there really isn’t much main content. If you’re into challenge levels you’ll most likely finish it in about seven or so hours since even those aren’t all that challenging. If you’re itching for some Sonic I’d recommend this game, although not at its current price since there isn’t all that much content to justify the price, see if you can find it for $5 or something.

6.7/10

Finally Beat Reckoning!

Gawsh, what a boring experience. It wasn’t as disappointing as Dead Island, but it sure was boring. I finished at around 17 hours and level 22. If you’re into a bunch of fetch quest and other mmo like quest this game is for you. After about 3 hours into the game I stopped paying attention to the story because its just as boring as its quest.Anyway with that out of the way I’ll most likely try to go through Sonic Generations this weekend since I hear its such a short game. Bah, who am I kidding, I’ll be spending most of my time on Soul Sacrifice.

Picked Up My Copy of Soul Sacrifice! (Plus life Issues!)

Woo, I can’t wait till Thursday so I can finally play it! Playstation is also having a really neat sale for a majority of the characters in Battle Royale. I’m thinking about getting Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for the PS3 so I can actually use one of its main features. Plus I might be able to actually beat the bosses legit. I’ll admit it, I cheated to beat the bosses, they were hard as hell, felt cheap in my opinion. But, before I actually start to consider it I want to beat kingdom of Amalur first(which is very boring by the way.) Shouldn’t take too long since I’m up to the second to last quest.

Also on an unrelated note, I’ve been having some serious ankle pains for the last month and a half. The doctor originally have me pain killers and told me to come back if the pain continues but me being as lazy as I am, i brushed it off. But it’s gotten really bad lately, even when I’m sitting or something I get a kind of burning sensation near the area. I made an appointment to go see whatever the foot doctor calls themselves, so hopefully it’s nothing too serious, and I can get rid of this pain once and for all.

Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning is Overrated

Seriously, this game is SOO boring. It’s structured like an MMO with a bunch of go to A then to B and then return to A.  The only good thing about the game is it’s combat and even that gets boring after about five hours. The enemies are stupid and just do the same moves over and over, plus you can’t jump so sometimes its a bit annoying traversing through the game. Honestly, I don’t even remember why I wanted this game in the first place, but on the bright side it only cost me $20 so it’s not like i spent full price. Also, I’m almost done so that’s another bonus. After this I’ll most likely either move on to Sleeping Dogs or one of  the games I got installed on my PC. Maybe Sonic Generations since I hear that game is pretty short.
