One thing that I know a lot of my fellow gamers do is imagine game ideas. Now I want to be a game programmer so I sometimes(although I admit its very rarely) watch youtube tutorials and program a game idea I’ve been thinking about for a while. What idea its is you ask? Waluigi’s Misadventures! Now we all know Mario and Luigi, and Mario’s opposite, Wario. Wario loves money, but what about Waluigi? I don’t follow these characters all that well so I decided to think it is what Waluigi wants the most? The answer I came up with is fame! Think about it, he’s always playable in Mario spin offs, like all of them, but has never had his own game. He wants to be number 1 at EVERYTHING and wants to be known, he couldn’t care less about the money. So how would the game play out? It’s an RPG and takes place in a movie studio. Waluigi is starring and directing a movie that glorifies him. Mario and Luigi aren’t in the game that way it doesn’t take away from Waluigi but it does mention them but undermines both. Wario is one of the villains as well, since Waluigi is always forgotten over Wario… So yea, it’s a cheeky rpg about Waluigi. what do you guys think?
I beat Max Payne 3 today, that’s another game off the backlog! Making some progress, brah! Up next is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. I think I might also play Mario Galaxy 2 while I’m playing the other 3(which you can see on the “What I’m Playing” page.) I sold my Wii ages ago so I play my Wii games on Dolphin, which is a Wii/Gamecube emulator for those who don’t know. It has its pros and cons. Some games have some glitches, for example, both Mario Galaxy games have audio glitches where the background music stops playing after a while and that can be a problem after boss fights as the game will freeze, that sucks cause the little music I’ve heard from the game is actually pretty cool. On the other hand though, you can play games in sweet, sweet HD. Let me just say that there’s a HUGE difference once the game is in HD. I recommend giving the emulator a shot if your PC can handle it. You can even use a Wii mote with the emulator too if you want, I prefer using my MLG PS3 controller though.
Oh yeah, I got some good news about my problem with school if anyone’s interested. I fixed the problem with the class they were saying I was missing over the phone so I was able to save myself the long ride home, and also I got an email from Hunter College telling me I got in. It’s not the school I want but if I don’t hear anything from Brooklyn College within the next two weeks I’m just going to settle with Hunter. I want to stop worrying about school as soon as possible so I can start enjoying my Summer vacation and also get an idea of what my schedule will be like in the Fall so I can get a job that’ll play nice with my schedule.
Well, until tomorrow my friends! I’m going to play a bit of Fallout: New Vegas, even though it’s a glitch fest it’s one of my favorite games, it’s that good. Speaking of which, I decided I’m going to start my best and worst games of the generation sometime this week, but I’ll only be doing the negative side first, I want to play The Last of Us and see if I should put it on my list as best something on my list since all I hear is praise for the game. So make sure to look out for that! Night, everyone; it’s gonna be 12am here in NYC and I’m getting sleepy @_@.
Nintendo’s new strategy of skipping E3 and only doing a Direct that only they’re hosting worked out awful. It lagged through all the good stuff but played perfectly fine for the garbage like the Wii Fit and stuff. Huge Pokemon fan so I was very excited to see a new type revealed, and also older Pokemons are getting retyped to Fairy as well so that’s awesome. I didn’t get to see a lot of the petting stuff but that looks like something kids would love, I couldn’t care less for that though. I was disappointed that Retro’s next game is Donkey Kong, I was hoping for a new IP or something, didn’t a Donkey Kong port just happened like last month? Also the new 3D Mario game is very disappointing. When I first saw it I assumed it was a 3DS game, instead it’s for the Wii U. It looks fun but I don’t think it belongs on the Wii U, I wanted to see a more open Mario game like Galaxy and 64, not a sequel to a 3DS game.
The impression I get from the Wii U is that its basically a more expensive 3DS that lacks the portable advantage of the 3DS. The only game that really wowed me was obviously Smash Bros. Oh my god, the beauty. Finally Smash in HD, hopefully its playable at E3 and we get to see some gameplay clips. I was very surprised by Mega Man, that was a awesome surprise. I also loved that wrestling ring stage they showed, that was fucking awesome. It looks like they teased the return of boss battles at the end as well when they showed Mega Man getting ready to fight Yellow Devil. The Direct didn’t make me feel like I’m missing anything good on the Wii U, the good stuff is coming in 2014 so I don’t need it any time soon. Plus, there was no price drop, the Wii U is only $50 more expensive then the ps4. Speaking of that I just remembered that Sony didn’t announce a price drop for the Vita. Overall the show felt like it played it safe, too safe.
Edit: A new character was announced for Smash Bros… Wii Fit Trainer… No, seriously… What a fucking waste, hopefully shes the only “joke” character and they’re just getting that crappy character out the way.
