Last month I started to get bored with pretty much exclusively playing single player games on PC, hell even multiplayer games on PC I play on my own with the most recent one being Battle Block Theater(but I can’t play online in this even if I wanted to though since I keep getting errors), and it starts to get pretty boring. So I decided to venture in some free to play games since I don’t feel like spending any money on PC games at the moment since I have a few Vita games that have priority. I tried a few shooting ones like Loadout and Warframe but neither caught my attention, especially Warframe since I have more fun playing that with my friends on PS4. Then decided to try War Thunder and Marvel Heroes but both held my interest for like, what, an hour or two at most? Just when I was about to give up hope and just continue to slug through playing games alone I decided to try the MOBA genre. I decided to give DOTA 2 another shot(third times the charm, right?) and still didn’t like it. I also participated in the Infinite Crisis and thought it was really boring, played the same as DOTA 2 which isn’t a good thing.
So since League and DOTA look the same I didn’t even bother wasting my time downloading that. So lastly I decided to give Smite a go, it would be the last one I tried before I gave up on my quest to find a multiplayer game that I can play on PC. At first it wasn’t that great, but it was miles ahead of DOTA and Infinite Crisis that’s for sure. I played about 3-4 hours(after all the tutorials were done) and it was 3-4 hours of just straight up losing. We all know after a while of losing repeatedly you start to get pretty bored. But before I uninstalled I decided to play 1 final round of Joust. The two people in my team were familiar with each other, I could tell from the chat. I went with Ymir and finally got some kills, around 4 or 5. I was amazed because it was the first time I got that many kills in a single game. Normally I’d get only one kill, and that was if I was lucky, and a bunch of deaths, normally 10 and up. We won and I just went off in the chat box with excitement for winning. So I’m back in the main menu and one of the players in my team private messages me and asked if I’d like to win some more and invited me to play with him and his friends. They gave me some good advice and told me to play as Neith since she’s powerful but also extremely easy to play as, during this match was when I fell in love with the game. Neith played great, gave me so much movement and also a lot crowd control. Continue reading
Damn man, I just got an email today from the Behemoth telling me that since I participated in the BattleBlock Theater beta I’ll be receiving a copy of the game FOR FREE!! That’s so freaking cool of them, especially since I had full intentions of buying the game anyway. Stay awesome Behemoth, you continue to prove my opinon that you guys are the best indie developers. If you’re interested in buying BattleBlock Theater, which I highly recommend it released May 15th on Steam and is already out on Xbox 360.
I haven’t posted anything in a while because in all honesty nothing interesting has been going on in my life(social and gaming). I have playing Smite recently, might post an impression on that in a week or two. But besides April is ending pretty soon which means E3 is 1 month closer(when is it, mid June?) so I figured I’d make a short list of games I’d like to see during E3. Now obviously I want to see new IPs but since I can’t predict them this list is mostly stuff we know of or exist in some shape or form, also if anyone is reading this and remembers the games I wanted to see at E3 2013 knows the two obvious games that’ll be on this list so I’ll just get those out-of-the-way now.
God dammit Bethesda, I know you’re making the freaking game, let us see it already! Also a few other notes, NO XBOX EXCLUSIVE DLC! & no cross gen, only current gen systems please. I’m hoping the gameplay improves on Fallout New Vegas instead of going on Fallout 3(which was the one developed by Bethesda). Few other things I want to see on Fallout 4 is a better third person camera, I like to see my character, after all, what’s the point of having a customized character if I can’t even see him/her, hell, I can’t even see their feet. Which is another thing I hope Fallout 4 has, letting me see my character’s body when I look down. There are some mods that already do this on PC but it would be nice to have that in there day one. Also no dumbing down, please. Skyrim was really shallow because it was dumb downed to appeal to casuals. It’s so bad in fact that personally I find the vanilla gameplay absolutely unplayable, it’s extremely boring.
Super Smash Bros 4
Obvious is obvious. This is the game that will make me purchase a Wii U. I want this game to be playable at E3, which will most likely happened for at least the 3DS version since that version comes out in the Summer(fingers crossed that it’s no later than mid July). Also for the love of god give me my Mewtwo! And like I’ve mention in my previous post I still wan’t to see Ridley just to have someone who’s the complete opposite of Little Mac(Huge and is only good in the air). Now with the two obvious ones out the way lets start with games I haven’t mentioned before. Continue reading
Finally steam got something I want to buy, I picked up Tomb Raider, I was going to pick up hitman but I think I won’t be able to pick it up today so I’ll have to wait till it goes on sale again. Also, Elder Scrolls Online is awesome, don’t want to talk about it though since the NDA and all.
Oh joy, while I was handling some paper work for school and donating blood(yes, had a “busy” day) I got an email on the train ride home saying I’m invited to the ESO beta this weekend! Well, looks like I know what I’ll be doing 🙂 Only problem is that the email doesn’t have a beta key or a way to download the launcher. I sent in a ticket, hopefully I can get that solved before the beta starts. I’m really interested to see how the game plays out. I’m hoping when the game does come out its a a one time pay like Guild Wars 2. I have literally zero intentions of paying full price for a game then 10-15 a month after that. Why anyone would willingly do that is beyond my understanding. Plus f2p always, ALWAYS end up being pay to win eventually. Sure, a game with a one time payment + cash shop might also do that but I have more faith in that pricing model that F2P. So while I wait on that reply from them I’ll go back to Persona 4 Golden, beat that fucking bear that takes forever and a day to run out of HP.
What a dull game. I tried the first level in arcade mode(which is basically horde mode) and uninstalled the game afterwords, it wasn’t my cup of tea since I’m not really one of those aim for high scores kind of guy. Took me five hours to beat the story. Only thing that kept me going through the game was the notes scattered throughout the world, honestly it’s the only interesting thing about the game. In story mode you’ll visit three different areas three times, each one containing its own damsel in distress. Each mission is practically a fetch quest, “Alan, go do this so you can get that.” Also all the missions are the same thing as well, just slightly altered.Honestly there isn’t much for me to say about this game. If you enjoyed Alan Wake 1 and want to buy American Nightmare for its story(like I did) don’t bother. However, if you’re one of those people who like arcade type games or horde mode I’d recommend it, but wait till it’s like 5 dollars or less, it’s really not worth more than that to me. Each wave gets tougher, hell, I almost didn’t even finish the one round I played cause there were so many enemies.
Jeez, this game is so repetitive and it doesn’t even try to hide it. You literally do the same missions for the same people. I’m doing it for the third(and hopefully last) time. Thank god I got this game for like 2 dollars or some shit like that, I would’ve felt so ripped off if i spent $15 on this. Shame too since the original Alan Wake is such an amazing experience. Well for what it’s worth the story continues two years after the originals ending, at least the story isn’t bad. I don’t want to spoil the game for anyone since Alan Wake is a very story driven series but Remedy’s idea for American Nightmare doesn’t translate so well into a game, hell, I don’t even think it’ll work on television or movies either. For those that have played the game, you know what I mean.
I beat Max Payne 3 today, that’s another game off the backlog! Making some progress, brah! Up next is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. I think I might also play Mario Galaxy 2 while I’m playing the other 3(which you can see on the “What I’m Playing” page.) I sold my Wii ages ago so I play my Wii games on Dolphin, which is a Wii/Gamecube emulator for those who don’t know. It has its pros and cons. Some games have some glitches, for example, both Mario Galaxy games have audio glitches where the background music stops playing after a while and that can be a problem after boss fights as the game will freeze, that sucks cause the little music I’ve heard from the game is actually pretty cool. On the other hand though, you can play games in sweet, sweet HD. Let me just say that there’s a HUGE difference once the game is in HD. I recommend giving the emulator a shot if your PC can handle it. You can even use a Wii mote with the emulator too if you want, I prefer using my MLG PS3 controller though.
Oh yeah, I got some good news about my problem with school if anyone’s interested. I fixed the problem with the class they were saying I was missing over the phone so I was able to save myself the long ride home, and also I got an email from Hunter College telling me I got in. It’s not the school I want but if I don’t hear anything from Brooklyn College within the next two weeks I’m just going to settle with Hunter. I want to stop worrying about school as soon as possible so I can start enjoying my Summer vacation and also get an idea of what my schedule will be like in the Fall so I can get a job that’ll play nice with my schedule.
Well, until tomorrow my friends! I’m going to play a bit of Fallout: New Vegas, even though it’s a glitch fest it’s one of my favorite games, it’s that good. Speaking of which, I decided I’m going to start my best and worst games of the generation sometime this week, but I’ll only be doing the negative side first, I want to play The Last of Us and see if I should put it on my list as best something on my list since all I hear is praise for the game. So make sure to look out for that! Night, everyone; it’s gonna be 12am here in NYC and I’m getting sleepy @_@.
With this generation almost coming to an end I want to make some best and worst of the generation awards. I don’t know if I should wait till September though since that’ll be the month where the last few games I’ll be purchasing this generation are released. Besides, I haven’t gotten around to buying The Last of Us, I hear it’s a nearly flawless game. Then again, I’d rather make the list while the games I’d pick are still fresh in my mind. Maybe I’ll just start by posting the worse games of the generations, I highly doubt any games that I want later on this month will top how bad the games on my list are. Oh yea, tomorrow I’m going to go to school to get my whole graduation shit checked out, hopefully it all goes well; wish me luck.
By the way, the list will contain the games from Wii, DS, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, PC(games that have come out in like the last 6 years or so). For some reason my friends don’t consider the PSP and DS in the same generation as the WiiPS360, but I do. So yea, till tomorrow or whenever I feel like doing it 😛
(Excuse any spelling errors and shit like that, I’m typing this up on my tablet with this new case that I got which has a bluetooth keyboard. I
The last two years of E3 have been pretty underwhelming, I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way. However, with new consoles coming to us later this year we got to see plenty of new games, and even new IPs. Some games were pretty boring(I’m looking at you, Ryse) but a lot other games look very impressive. One thing I noticed with a lot of next-gen games is that a lot seem to be going open world. Something I welcome with open arms, I love open world games, hopefully these games are packed with content, and easter eggs as well. For once in a long time I enjoyed a majority of the games, like at least 8 out of every 10; I was very impressed. There were three games that stuck out to me the most though, these three are presented in no particular order. Continue reading
